Algebra is the part of mathematics in which letters and other symbols are used to represent numbers, quantities and patterns in formulas and equations. Students will build upon their pre-algebra skills as they study various types of functions, learn various methods for solving and graphing equations, and perform arithmetic operations on polynomials. Students will investigate how algebra and algebraic thinking is used in the real world.
